Week 14

It was my first time presenting. I was so anxious and I was sweating bad. But I don't think I did so bad. And the rest of you guys did great as well.
I'm so glad for the semester to finally end. Thank you to my partner and all the other great interns who made my semester great. See you guys in the spring, I'll miss you guys.

Week 13

Presentations are near! I'm actually kinda nervous to present. Even though Phase 1 of the project is done, I'm excited what will come in Phase 2. We're trying more bacteria (Klebsiella and Staphylococcus). Klebsiella is a very bad bug; I thought I was going to die when i was putting it in MRS tube. But I survived and I have pictures! I'm not sure if thats inhibition yet.

Week 12: Slow Week

I'm so happy the semester the semester is almost over. There's not much left to do for my project. Rolanda and I just have to edit the poster, do some final tests, and we gucci. I gram stained some the lactobacillus for the poster; they're real rad to look at.

L. rhamnosus

L. plantarum (Really weird that this one didn't pick up any colour from the stains)

L. casei

L. acidophilus

Week 11: Plate Results

It was struggle to find the best broth, time frame, and temperature for L. casei, L. plantarum, L. casei, and L. rhamnosus to grow in. Then the next struggle was the best technique to display inhibition that the various lactobacillus was supposed to do to the E. coli. And that technique was the plugs! To do a plug, first put lactobacillus on a TSA plate and E. coli on another TSA plate. Next take a empty test tube and make it sterile by putting it in a flame and wait for it to cool down. Then put the test tube on the lactobacillus plates and punch a circle out. Then put the circle on the middle of the E. coli plate and incubate at 33℃.
And look at the amount of inhibition!
